Behind This Song

A song we wrote in April 2020, during our transition into full-time ministry with Coreluv, a nonprofit working with orphans in Haiti and around the world. It's a song processing following Jesus and following Him through seasons and assignments.

We wrote this while stepping into a new assignment and feeling both the excitement and cost of obedience. The song carries that strange moment of standing on one summit while already hearing Jesus call us onward.

It is a yes-in-the-unknown song - risk, transition, and the conviction that following Him is still worth it, even when the next mountain is not yet familiar.

Lyrics

Oh, oh Getting off of this mountain, climbing up a new one I’ll follow You, Jesus, ’til my time here is done Getting off of this mountain, climbing up a new one I’ll follow You, Jesus, ’til my time here is done Oh, oh Just got to the top, just took in the view You’re calling me, Jesus, to build something new New feelings of risk, new feelings of fear New depths to the valleys, new ways to draw near Oh, oh Getting off of this mountain, climbing up a new one I’ll follow You, Jesus, ’til my time here is done Getting off of this mountain, climbing up a new one I’ll follow You, Jesus, ’til my time here is done Oh, oh There’s more to my story, more to my song New houses to build up, new dreams to be born New waters to walk on, new dry bones to raise New houses of worship, new houses of praise More orphans to rescue, more widows to save New justice to roll out, I’ll show you the way Getting off of this mountain, climbing up a new one I’ll follow You, Jesus, ’til my time here is done Getting off of this mountain, climbing up a new one I’ll follow You, Jesus, ’til my time here is done Oh, oh What else could be worth it? I’ll risk it all over again To capture new visions of You What else could be worth it? I’ll risk it all over again To taste something sweet, something new What else could be worth it? I’ll risk it all over again To capture new visions from You, oh What else could be worth it? I’ll risk it all over again To taste something sweet, something new, yeah And You’re always worth it, I’ll risk it all over again To taste something sweet, something new, oh, yeah And You’re always worth it, we’ll risk it all over again To capture new visions from You, oh, yeah Oh, Jesus, were pressing in and pressing on, oh Oh, we want the more, we want the new, oh You’re always worth it, You’re always worth it, oh What else could be worth it? What else could be sweeter than You, sweeter than You? What else could be worth it? What else could be sweeter than You, sweeter than You?

A Prayer

Jesus, give us courage to leave what is familiar when You are calling us somewhere new. Keep our hearts soft in seasons of risk, teach us to trust You on every mountain and in every valley, and remind us again that nothing is sweeter and nothing is more worth following than You. Amen.
