Behind This Song

This song grew out of gratitude. We kept circling back to the mercy of Jesus - the way grace meets guilt, shame, and darkness, then calls us into real freedom.

It became a hallelujah song, but not a polished one. It was written from the joy of being pulled out of hiding and reminded again that new life in Jesus is not theoretical - it changes how we stand, sing, and live.

More than anything, this song is our way of remembering that what was lost in Adam has been restored in Christ, and that grace still has the final word.

Lyrics

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound I once was lost but now am found I was blind, but now I see How your grace it covers me Amazing love, how can it be That you, my King, would die for me? I was blind, but now I see How your grace it covers me Hallelujah, hallelujah I was hiding in the shadows before You called my name So afraid in all my guilt and shame Now you've called me out of darkness and washed my guilty stains Hallelujah, hallelujah What once was lost in Adam has been restored in Jesus You've won my freedom, hallelujah The serpent bruised your heel, but you crushed the serpent's head You've won my freedom, hallelujah My sin brought condemnation; Your blood my innocence, oh You've won my freedom, hallelujah The reign of fear and darkness has lost its grip of power You've won my freedom, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah I was hiding in the shadows before You called my name So afraid in all my guilt and shame Now I'm dancing in your freedom, you've broken every chain Hallelujah Now I'm dancing in your freedom, you've broken every chain Hallelujah, hallelujah

Rooted in Scripture

Ephesians 2:4-5

Because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved.

This is the ground - grace bringing us from death into life.
